About

The first Pilgrimage of Hadrian’s Wall in 1849 was attended by just 24 people. Occurring every ten years, the fourteenth Pilgrimage in July 2019 saw Hadrian’s Wall welcome over 200 participants from Britain and abroad.

To celebrate the 2019 Hadrian’s Wall Pilgrimage we look back at a series of photographs taken during and after the 1886 Pilgrimage.
